I’ve just finished reading Vonnegut’s _A Man Without a Country_

Much of it is not new, but rather classic Vonnegut. What he does is to take messages he’s given us all before, dust them off, and put them in context of more current events, as well as impart more than a few beautifully and masterfully turned phrases that succinctly and incisively describe the present plight of our planet. One can’t help but feel a little shame, reading this, when Vonnegut describes the seemingly complex and morally ambiguous issues we all deal with daily in the simplest, sometimes even childish terms. It forces one to wonder what the Hell, exactly, we’re all fucking doing.

A link to the book is on the right sidebar. I strongly encourage you, random reader, to purchase it. I think I’ll expound on this more, later. I’m considering buying dozens of copies and handing them out on the street, maybe leaving them next to the Gideon Bible in hotel nightstands. Maybe I need to start a fund drive just for this purpose. Any volunteers?

Just another inaugural post

Perhaps this time I’ll remain interested enough in a blog to have a second post. Anything is possible!
